Looking for HRM and project management software you can host yourself? This guide covers seven options: UI Lib’s own Nexus, plus six scripts sold on CodeCanyon. We re-checked each CodeCanyon listing on 31 October 2026 and note when it was last updated, because HR and payroll data should not sit on software its author stopped maintaining.
HRM (human resource management) software is the digital hub for your employee data. It supports time tracking and payroll, benefits administration and performance reviews, and acts as the system of record for everyone who works for you. Pair it with project management and the hours your team logs can feed straight into client work.
The list is in no particular order. For a closer look, use the ‘Details / Download’ option or the ‘Demo’ and ‘Live Preview’ buttons under each entry.
What to check before you buy
- Last update: a listing untouched for years may not run on a current PHP or database version, and payroll rules change.
- Payroll scope: check whether payroll covers your country’s taxes, or only lets you define your own salary deductions.
- Projects and time: can logged hours become an invoice without retyping?
- Who runs the server: these are scripts you host, so decide who installs, backs up and updates them.
Nexus – HR, CRM & Project Management System (ours)
Full disclosure: Nexus is built by UI Lib, the author of this blog, so read this entry as ours. It is a self-hosted Laravel application that puts HR, CRM and project management on one database and one login, so an employee, a CRM contact and a project member are the same user.
On the HR side it covers departments, an org chart, onboarding checklists, attendance, leave, payroll, performance reviews and recruitment with a careers page. On the project side it offers list, board, Gantt and calendar views and a timer, and approved billable hours turn into a draft client invoice. It also includes a client portal, SLA-tracked support tickets and eight languages including Arabic with a right-to-left layout.
Its limits are stated on the product page: payroll has no tax engine (taxes and contributions are salary deduction components you set up with your own rates), it records payments rather than processing cards, contract signing uses a typed name and is not a legally qualified e-signature, and updates are applied by copying files and running migrations because there is no automatic updater. Nexus was released in September 2026, so it is new. It needs PHP 8.3 and MySQL 8 or MariaDB 10.6, and no cron, queue worker or Redis, so it runs on ordinary shared hosting.

WorkTick is an all-in-one HRM and project management system for managing a company, its projects and its staff in one place. It is also ours: it is sold on CodeCanyon under the ui-lib author name. Spring HRM – Human Resource Management (HRM) & Payroll Software
Spring HRM is a multilingual HRM and payroll system that helps you track employees’ attendance and everyday tasks. It is now listed on CodeCanyon as “HRM MAX, Payroll, Attendance, File, Account Management Platform” by springsoftit, and its last update was on 11 July 2024.
From one admin interface you can manage departments, workers, payroll, invoices, expenses, assets and events. It was originally built on Laravel 7.2, so ask the author which framework version the current release runs on.
PayDay – HRM Project Management Software
PayDay was an HRM solution built around employee and payroll management, with simple tracking of employees and their daily activities. As of 31 October 2026 its CodeCanyon page says the item is no longer available, and CodeCanyon suggests similar items instead. We kept the links below for reference, but you cannot buy it there.

HRSALE – The Ultimate HRM and Project Management Software
HRSALE is an HR platform that combines personnel information into a single HR system, replacing piles of paperwork and spreadsheets with an online employee database and staff profiles. Its last update on CodeCanyon was on 10 August 2021, so confirm with the author that it still runs on a current PHP version before you buy.

PeoplePro – Human Resource Management Software
PeoplePro, by LionCoders, is an HR management and payroll solution that is now listed as “PeoplePro HRM, Payroll & Project Management”. Its last update was on 17 October 2026, so it is actively maintained. From one admin interface you can manage multiple organizations, departments, workers and projects.
Its listing mentions IP-based or general attendance, multilingual support, a support ticket system and user role permissions, among other features.

ShadowHRM – Human Resource Management
ShadowHRM is human resource management software that can run a single business or several from one place. It is now listed on CodeCanyon as “ShadowPro – Billing, Invoicing, Accounting & HRM Management” by ambitiousitbd, last updated on 27 March 2025.
You can create a company, a location, a branch, a department, a classification and an employee, and keep track of daily attendance, salary awards and employee transfers or promotions. It can print an attendance report and a salary report in PDF format.

Wrapping Up
These systems cover work that would take a developer months to build. Before you pick one, write down what you need, check each listing’s last update, and open the demo with your own scenario: add an employee, record leave, log time on a project and produce the report your manager would ask for.
Then decide who looks after the server. UI Lib’s managed hosting runs Nexus for $12 a month, and the installation service is a one-time $50 on your own hosting. If you also need a CRM and a client portal, read CRM and project management software.
