Questions

Can I run it on shared hosting?

Resto and Nexus can: neither needs Node.js, Redis, WebSockets, queue workers or cron, so a host that runs Laravel and MySQL is enough. Stocky SaaS runs on shared hosting too, but new tenants then register as pending until an admin creates each subdomain and database by hand. Nexus SaaS needs wildcard subdomains and a database user that can create databases, which most shared hosting does not offer. For Stocky POS and Mentor LMS, shared hosting is not promised either way: if your host meets the PHP version, extensions and document-root requirements above, it should work. Ask us first if you want certainty.

Do I need a VPS for the SaaS editions?

Nexus SaaS needs wildcard subdomain support and CREATE and DROP DATABASE rights, so in practice a VPS. Stocky SaaS recommends a VPS: with wildcard DNS it provisions a tenant in about a minute, while shared hosting needs manual approval for every tenant.

Why does the document root have to point at /public?

These are Laravel applications. Only the public folder should be reachable from the web, so the rest of the code, your configuration file and the storage folder stay out of reach.

What if my host has an older PHP version?

Stocky POS and Stocky SaaS run on PHP 8.2. Resto, Nexus, Nexus SaaS and Mentor LMS need 8.3. Most hosts let you switch the PHP version from the control panel.

Does the installer check my server?

Stocky POS’s installer shows the PHP version it found and names any missing extension. The full requirements for each product are in its documentation, linked from the product page.
