Your Data, Your Server: Ownership and Security

With self-hosted software your business data lives in your own database on your own server. Here is what that means if you stop, switch or grow.

When you rent business software, your customers, sales and records live in someone else’s database, and they are available for as long as you keep paying. With our self-hosted products, your data lives in your own database on your own server.

What that means in practice

  • It is your database

Your sales, customers, stock and staff records are stored in a MySQL or MariaDB database that you control.

  • Nothing to switch off

You pay for the licence once. There is no subscription that can lapse, so there is nothing to cancel and no account that can be suspended.

  • You hold the code too

You get the full, unencrypted source code and every future update, for life.

  • You choose the server

Run it on a hosting plan or VPS you pick, in the country you pick, and move it when you want.

What happens if you stop using it

Your data stays where it is, in your database. Your copy of the software keeps working. The only thing with a time limit is support, which is included for 6 months from purchase and can be renewed by contacting us. If you ever move to different software, your data is in a standard database you can export and reuse.

Security built into the products

Roles and permissions
Staff see only what their role allows. Nexus enforces permissions on every route, not just by hiding menu items, and Stocky POS can limit users to specific warehouses.
Card data stays with the processor
Resto takes cards through Stripe Checkout, so card details never touch your server.
Separate data for every tenant
In Stocky SaaS and Nexus SaaS, each customer’s workspace has its own database, and Stocky SaaS audits every time an admin signs in as a tenant for support.
Protected content
Mentor LMS keeps lesson videos private with signed streaming links, and stores files where you choose.
Backups and recovery
Your data is in your own database, so you can back it up with your host’s tools. Stocky SaaS also includes automated backups and an audit trail.

What you look after

Owning your data means keeping your server up to date and backed up. That is straightforward on a good hosting plan, and updates for the software are free, delivered as files you copy over. If you would rather not do it yourself, ask us about our managed self-hosted service, where we manage your installation.

Questions

Does UI Lib have access to my business data?

Your data is stored in your own database on your own server. If you ask for support, we may need access to help, and that is something you grant.

Can I move to a different server or host?

Yes. Copy the files and the database to the new server and update your configuration.

Can I export my data?

The products include exports for reports and records, and because the data sits in a standard database you can also export it directly.

Do I need a licence renewal to keep my data?

No. The licence is one-time. Renewal only applies to support.

Where can I see what each product does for security?

Each product page lists its features, and the server requirements page covers what your host needs.
